Warwick Davis enjoying some banana and pecan cake at the Matmi offices yesterday. Such a big cake for such a little person! Had a great time going through the details of his upcoming app, despite the sweltering heat! Really excited about how the app is progressing , keep an eye out for it in the near future!

Gamification at SAScon 2012

Last week, on the 17th and 18th May, I was kindly invited along to chair a panel at the Search-Analytics-Social Media Conference on the use of Gamification. The event had many experienced speakers from the SEO and Social media industry. It was a fascinating place to be for us because SEO marketing is not something we would class as one of our specialities.

The panel I chaired featured  who did a fantastic talk entitled ”15 Ways to Integrate Gamification Features into Your SEO Strategy”, which I strongly recommend you check out. It discusses gamification from the perspective of an SEO.

Below is a copy of my slide show, relating to gamification in more general terms.

Cheers,
Jeff (Matmi MD)

Innovative Use of Screens in NCDV ‘Drag Him Away’ Interactive Screen Campaign
See on Scoop.it - New Digital Media

The National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV) has launched an interactive billboard campaign at Euston Station to raise awareness about how people can intervene to help put a stop to domestic violence. The campaign, which launched 30 April 2012, runs on JCDecaux’s large format e-motion screens and encourages passers by to get involved in the advert by controlling the scene using their mobile phone.

Share of iOS and Android Revenues in the US

Share of iOS and Android Revenues in the US

digithoughts:

Share of iOS and Android Revenues in the US

The graph includes data from the top 200 grossing games in the Apple App Store and the Google Play store.

Newzoo  the market research firm behind the study  also notes that in three months, the Kindle Fire has doubled Android’s share of revenues in the US compared to European countries.

That sounds impressive, but that’s where I get lost. Or at least some of my trust. Amazon has its own Appstore for the Kindle Fire, right? I thought that Kindle Fire users needed to sideload Google Play apps, and I can’t imagine sideloaders having a great impact on the market. So what’s up and what’s down, what’s in and what’s not?

Rolling out ROLLABEAR at MoMo Birmingham

RollaBear Screens

The guys at LAUNCH hosted the latest Mobile Monday in Birmingham yesterday where Jeff (Matmi MD) was provided the opportunity to show off Matmi’s latest in-house creation…Rollabear. We are pleased to say it received a positive reaction from the attendees.

It has been three years in the making. Two years late. Lots of stress. Many disasters, three re-writes. 6 designers and artists, three developers, and 1 crazy boss. But finally, an end is in sight! This may just jinx it but we are looking at a June/July release.

Here’s a quick word from the man himself:

The development of Rollabear has been a great passion of mine for a long time (a looong time). Allowing me to really push my creativity and throw as many of my ideas at the team (to the sound of some groans).

I am really excited to get it released to the public. I know all of us at Matmi love it but then it’s hard not to be biased. I hopefully can stop dreaming about bears now.

I’d like to thank the guys at LAUNCH for giving me the chance to demonstrate three years of work. There were many impressive games showcased, I was particularly impressed by “Jumping Jupingo”.

Keep your eyes open for “Rollabear” rolling round this summer to a mobile near you!

-Jeff Coghlan, Matmi MD

Join Rollabear on his adventure around the globe, visiting 3 distinct regions.

Rollabear is an action packed physics based adventure that is insanely fun and very addictive.

No bears were hurt in the making of this game. But a few developers lost their minds.

Creative Review - Imagine with Lego

German ad agency Jung von Matt has created this charming print campaign to advertise Lego. The ads feature minimalist interpretations of some of our best-loved cartoon characters, all created with blocks of Lego: can you guess who’s who?
Here’s a clue: The Simpsons, Asterix and Donald Duck all feature. We’ll let you work out the rest.
